Pass the Bottle

We all know recycling is key in terms of sustainability and a green environment. Now, explaining to people they have to recycle is one thing, to convince them to actually do it, another.

Friends of Glass made it their quest to raise awareness on the benefits and importance of glass recycling and to show how fun recycling actually can be.

Therefore we launched a Facebook application in 12 European countries called Pass the Bottle. The game consists in sharing a good moment with your Facebook friends by passing each other a virtual glass bottle of a delicious drink.

The idea is simple: you make a circle together with 3 Facebook friends and start passing the bottle. This idea is based on the Facebook Friend Selector.  Each time the bottle gets passed on to you, you take a sip and pass it on to the next person. The one who empties the bottle and successfully recycles it, wins a real glass bottle with something delicious inside.

All 5000 bottles got recycled very quickly, emerging in a recycling mania on- and offline. With great response through social media and an increase of our fanbase as end result!
